Glazier was a railroad town, shipping wheat and cattle, and had a peak population of about three hundred in 1915. Expansion of the railroad and a fire in 1916 reduced the town's population to about half that. Then in 1947 a tornado leveled the town, killing several. This old jail was the only building in town to survive the tornado. The jail is well preserved (and it is also remarkable that it is still standing at all, this close to the highway) but is locked and has not been used for that purpose for about sixty years. "Hooskow" is western slang for a small stand-alone jail like this one. Additional history abut the town, the tornado, and the jail can be found at the link below.
