A wooden plaque mounted to the front of the building shows the date of 1799. The Prothonotary Office of 1799 is one of the oldest buildings in the town of Bedford, it stands in the towns Historical District. Located in the Squares, land set aside by the Penn Family in the 1700's. It has been converted to a single home dwelling.
