This monument is dedicated to the teacher, politician and writer Alexandre Bóveda, forerunner of the Galician Statute of Autonomy, who was shot during the Franco regime, becoming a martyr.
The monument was sculpted by Buciños, and placed here on the occasion of the centenary of his birth (2003)
It is a kind of column that two people are embracing and trying to climb.
Originally it was not a column, but rather a trunk from which small branches of hope sprouted, but an act of vandalism has annihilated them and they are not replaced.
It has a plaque with words of the writer Castelao that put:
"Bóveda terá que ser, nun mañán próximo ou lonxano, a bandeira da nosa redención"
en: "Bóveda will have to be, in the near or distant morning, the banner of our redemption"
new of desaparition of the branches: (
