L'Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière (IGN) est un établissement public français à caractère administratif ayant pour mission d'assurer la production, l'entretien et la diffusion de l'information géographique de référence en France.
Pour remplir cette mission, de très nombreux repères de nivellement ont été positionnés à travers la France. Ils ont des formes diverses mais l'un des plus courant est une rond de bronze portant la mention "Nivellement Général IGN"
Le goudron ayant été refait et le sol surélevé, le repère est presque enterré.
On peut trouver un peu partout ce type de repère mais l'IGN ayant le souhait de la pérennité des mesures les a placé sur des endroits qui connaissent peu d'évolutions : mairies, église, pont, bâtiments publics, ...
Ici, c'est sur le mur du côté de l'église que j'ai photographié le repère.

The National Institute for Geographic and Forest Information (IGN) is a French public administrative institution whose mission is to ensure the production, maintenance and dissemination of reference geographic information in France.
To fulfill this mission, many benchmarks have been positioned across France. They have various shapes but one of the most common is a round bronze bearing the mention "Levellement Général IGN"
The tar having been redone and the ground raised, the landmark is almost buried.
You can find this type of marker almost everywhere, but the IGN, wishing for the sustainability of the measurements, has placed them in places that have seen little change: town halls, churches, bridges, public buildings, etc.
Here is on the wall on the side of the church that I photographed the landmark.
