[EN] On the Karmelenberg, in the immediate vicinity of the Marienkapelle, is this summit cross from 1733.
The cross consists of a two-tier foundation. The pedestal with Madonna and cross is about 5 meters high.
"The cross, also known as the "three-nail crucifix", shows the crucified made of reddish sandstone. As a result of centuries of weathering and also violent damage, the figure of Jesus had to be elaborately restored during the restoration carried out in 1996.
Johann Joseph Pfeiffhoven, an artist from Koblenz-Metternich in the 18th century, is associated with the creation of the Mary sculpture made of sandstone. The year of origin of the entire high cross (1733) is carved on the basalt base. Above the head of the Madonna one can recognize the Walpot coat of arms applied after 1733."
