Over winkelcentra gesproken, begin juni (2020) verscheen een nieuwsbericht van de gemeente Utrecht over plannen voor de aanpak van verschillende Utrechtse winkelgebieden die ‘extra aandacht verdienen’. Daaronder ook het winkelcentrum aan de Vasco da Gamalaan op Kanaleneiland, onder andere vanwege een slechte score voor het functioneren en ook de kwaliteit laat volgens het gemeentelijk onderzoek te wensen over.

In het winkelgebied aan Vasco da Gamalaan vind je een vrij grote Lidl supermarkt, kruidenierszaak Akses Market, multiculturele supermarkt ÖZDE Foodcenter, Chinees-Indisch restaurant Lok Fu, afhaal- en bezorgrestaurant Kebab2Go en café-restaurant Nachat. Op het oostelijke einde van het winkelcentrum is een mooi tableau gemaakt met de naam Vasco da Gama.

Speaking of shopping centres, at the beginning of June (2020) a news item was published by the municipality of Utrecht about plans to tackle various Utrecht shopping areas that 'deserve extra attention'. This includes the shopping center on Vasco da Gamalaan on Kanaleneiland, partly because of a poor score for functioning and the quality also leaves much to be desired, according to the municipal survey.

In the shopping area at Vasco da Gamalaan you will find a fairly large Lidl supermarket, Akses Market grocery store, multicultural supermarket ÖZDE Foodcenter, Chinese-Indian restaurant Lok Fu, takeaway and delivery restaurant Kebab2Go and café-restaurant Nachat. At the eastern end of the shopping center a nice tableau has been made with the name Vasco da Gama.
