The platform is located on the edge of the small body of water "Vogelplas" in the recreation area "Delftse Hout" about 2km east of Delft city centre. The small body of water "Vogelplas" was created in 2000 as an explicit bird sanctuary in addition to the approximately 20ha large body of water "De Grote Plas" created in 1960. It has different water depths to offer the birds a diverse range of food.

From the walkway you can reach the approximately 3m wide platform, which is above the water surface, via a 6m long bridge. Several openings in the wooden shed allow a view of various species of ducks and seagulls. Some of the boards have a description of common bird species engraved on the inward side.
