An antique washing machine is on display in a shed at Kempenmuseum de Acht Zaligheden.

The machine here on display consists of a wood-fired stove with a steel tub in an enamelled boiler. After the water is warm enough, the laundry is put in a drum. This is then closed. The drum is fixed on an axle on top of the tub. With a crank the drum is turned and so the laundry is cleaned. After washing, the laundry can be hung on the line to dry. The manufacturer of the machine is not known. Year of construction we estimate at about 1900, maybe even earlier.
