It's not all that surprising that country superstar Toby Keith would occasionally be in the area; he grew up in Moore and he owns a restaurant in Oklahoma City. He paid a visit to Hollywood Corners on April 9, 2022 and was seen by a large group of geocachers hosting their monthly luncheon (GC9Q691) at the picnic tables outside. One of our members said "Toby Keith is inside!" and a few of us went in to, ah, refill our sodas and there he was, talking to a friend at a table by the window. We did not disturb Mr. Keith but he did notice us gathered at the soda machine and we exchanged nods of greeting. One of the servers told us that he drops by "occasionally."

Showing an early affinity for music, he got his first guitar at age eight and was soon playing on stage with musicians at a nightclub in Arkansas owned by his grandmother. He played football in high school and for the Oklahoma City Drillers and worked in the oil fields while playing in his own band. They attracted little attention until a flight attendant (and fan) gave her copy of his demo tape to a Mercury Records executive. His 1993 debut single Should've Been A Cowboy went to #1 on the Hot Country Singles charts and by the end of the decade had been played on the radio over three million times. His next four albums went all "gold" or better and produced many Top Ten Singles, establishing Toby Keith as a major country music star.
