1880: The first cash register is patented by James and John Ritty of Dayton, Ohio.
1900: Dr. Karl Landsteiner first reports his discovery of an accurate means for classifying a system of blood type, which will universally be referred to as the ABO blood group system and for which he will be awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1930.
1920: The Spanish Flu ends with an estimate between seventeen million to fifty million dead. It would be the last global pandemic until the 2009 swine flu pandemic almost 90 Years Later.
1940: Bugs Bunny makes his debut in the Oscar-nominated cartoon short, A Wild Hare. However, it is not until 1941 that his name is adopted.
1960: Robert F. Kennedy telephones Coretta Scott King, the wife of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and secures King's release from jail for a traffic violation in Atlanta.
1981: Donkey Kong is released, marking the first Donkey Kong and Mario smash hit arcade game developed by Nintendo in Japan.
