This pillar stands by the side of a unclassified road just east of Hillton of Dunlugas farm, four miles north of the Aberdeenshire town of Turriff and five miles south of the coastal towns of Banff and Macduff. The low lying pillar at 101 metres, stands on the watershed between the River Deveron to the west and a valley to the east, it is in good condition and views are extensive although no significant high ground is nearby.

TERRAIN: Reached by minor country roads.
ACCESSIBILITY: Easily reached with the pillar even having its own lay-by, being adjacent to a passing place in the road.
NAVIGATION: Reached from Turriff via either the C2S road or the C5S road, both leaving the town to the north. The road that the pillar lies on links the two roads. The pillar lies on the northern side of the road at its highest point.
DANGER: None, the pillar is easily found, and the road is quiet.
