"Immanuel UCC was formed officially on Pentecost Monday, May 28, 1901. It was formed as the German Evangelical Immanuel Church to serve the Christians in and around New Franklin, Mo. These were the pioneers spreading west across Missouri rom the German settlements in the St. Charles area. According to the history the families had been meeting in the already built Christian Church since 1898 and having services in the afternoon with a preacher from Boonville who served the Evangelical Church there traveling to do the service and instructions of young people. Though these churches are just 3 miles apart they are separated by the Missouri river and at that time the only bridge was a railroad bridge so this traveling preacher either had to cross by train, horseback and buggy through the water or a ferry boat. The travel problems were the reason the church members decided to start the church.

"The church voted to build their own worship space in 1906 and that is where the church and the educational building still are today. The predecessor denomination it was part of was, as you can tell from the name, German Evangelical. In the history records there is no mention of the reason the name Immanuel was chosen, however as the definition of Immanuel being ”God with us” is what the assumption would be.

"Immanuel has a thriving Sunday school for all ages at 9:30am on Sundays with worship following at 10:30am. We are glad to have visitors anytime and remember you are always welcome here." ~ Immanuel UCC History
