The "Avenue of Flags" is just inside the entrance to Old Mission Cemetery. This monument celebrates the bicentennial of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the founding of the United States of America. The text at the top (south) end of the horizontal monument is

AVENUE OF FLAGS

Established in 1976 to honor the 200th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America. Flags are flown each year on Memorial Day as a symbol of our national heritage.

The text then names many who contributed to this monument.
