The brass plaque as memorial for World War One is mounted on the road-facing side of a sawn pink stele in view of the local Primary School. It honours the memory of trees planted more than a hundred years ago each for a soldier of the rural area. The text is as follows:

SILVAN WW1 AVENUE OF HONOUR
On "ANZAC Day" 1918, thirty-seven flowering gum trees were positioned
with guards and a plaque, down each side of Wray Crescent, Mt Evelyn
in tribute to each man from Mount Evelyn and Silvan who served in the
First World War. The trees on the east side were planted in memory of
the following men from Silvan:

V Campbell
V Dickens
D England
A S Ingram
A Johnson
A Lockwood
W Long *
W Lucas
H F McKay
W Parker *
A S Roger *
T Rossiter
W Russell
B Sessions
L C Sessions
H Smith
D Stormont
B Wilkin

Over the years the tree guards and plaques all disappeared and in 1985
the remaining trees were removed.
During the Centenary of World War One the Rotary Club of Wandin
built this memorial to commemorate these men for the first time in Silvan.
