This French 75MM field piece is set as a memorial to Cpl. Peter Klingensmith, who was the first Bristow man killed in action in World War I. The plaque is set horizontal to the ground, on the southeast corner of the concrete pad. The text is

Dedicates this WWI French 75mm Cannon
To Cpl. Peter Klingensmith,
First Bristow man killed in action in W.W.I
And all other Doughboys who served
Their country.
Klingensmith Park, which is nearby, also hosts a plaque for Cpl. Klingensmith.
