The Spring Point Trail is a loop trail of about a 4/10 of a mile along the park's northernmost peninsula, offering a beautiful view inside the woods as well as of the lake. The sign stands in front of a good example of the honey locust, providing a sound byte as to how, despite the thorns that are a real hazard for us human beings, some of Mother Nature's other creations are able to navigate them to enjoy their fruit pods.

Be on the lookout nearby for "an unusual gathering". Throughout the park are plenty of locations where you can see the webs spun by the long-jawed orb weavers and at least six other species of spiders. This section of trail was the scene of a proverbial Woodstock event in 2007 when thousands of spiders built webs to feast upon the flies and other bugs that had come into the area. Ten trees were completely covered in webs, and even today, there is heavy activity in the foliage. The trail is hiked enough, though, that there shouldn't be any issues walking into anything more than the occasional strand.
