Billed as the only hostel in Providence, Rhode Island, Esperanto is in the Smith Hill neighborhood about one mile southeast of Providence College campus and a mile and a half northwest from Downtown. There are a variety of room options -- Co-ed, female-only, and private rooms. This urban residential home is one short block from a main street that offers laundry, grocery, dining, a post office, and bus stops. Public Davis Park (West End) and Father Lennon Park (North End) are short walks from the property.

Amenities include:
Fully equipped kitchen; communal living room; free Wi-Fi; guest computer, television, small lending library, and board games; free coffee and tea; free luggage and bike storage; and heat and A/C in rooms.

Bookings open to only out-of-state guests per standard hostel industry policy. Check-in between 3:00PM and 9:00PM since there is not 24-hour reception desk. Previous arrangements for an early/late arrival may be possible and there is a $20 fee. Valid passport and credit card in the name of reservation are required to check in. Two night minimum on weekends. Long-term rates available depending on seasonal availability. Children under 14 must be in a private room with parent or guardian. Owners have a cat, so if you're allergic, remember to take that into account and book a private room.

A work exchange program is offered for people who would like to stay a month or longer. Volunteer duties in exchange for free or reduced rates include guest check-in, daily housekeeping chores, and creating programs for guests such as bike tours, scavenger hunts, and pub crawls.

Please note there is no signage on the exterior, but you may spot a colorful "Welcome" flag flying at the front door!
