The plaque says, "Our historic farmhouse was built in 1878 and it is the oldest wooden structure in San Juan Capistrano. It used to belong to Pony Express Rider, Joel Congdon, who grew Orange County's first walnut grove, Surviving more than 130 years of social, agricultural, and environmental change, the farmhouse reminds us that through preserving the past, we cultivate a more abundant future."
