An author with a fatwa on his head is nearly assassinated in a friend’s bookshop. When investigated, the bookshop owner, Harakat, is found to be the intended target. Harakat had MI6’s protection until the Islamic group he belonged to did a deal with HMG. MI6 turns a blind eye to the assassination and put a tail on MI5’s operation to protect Harakat. Adam makes contact with a government mole that exposes the plot after giving MI6 the slip. Unfortunately, the assassins get to Harakat first.
As a sub plot Zoe’s relationship with the self employed journalist Will develops when they go to a wedding.
