REALLY high above the southern entrance to the Registrar General's Building is a crest, with a Lion Statue (and Unicorn).

HIGH up on the garret façade, inset to the sandstone gable, is an ornate crest. This life-sized 'Lion Rampant' on the left-hand side of a heraldic shield is opposite a Unicorn! On top of the shield appears to be a knights helmet visor with a crown on top. But interestingly there is a much smaller 'Lion Statant' on the crown.

And then on the shield there are three 'Lion Pasants' depicted on the top-left and three on the lower right quadrant; with a single 'Lion Rampant' on the upper-right of the shield.

Being so high up (16 metres above street level, by my scaling) I had to go over the road to get a 'decent photo' using the longest zoom on my camera.

The building was designed by the government architect, W L Vernon, and completed in 1913.

[I had come down to Sydney in the morning for Geocaching Event just over the road, and stayed for a Christian concert in the evening.]
