This pillar can be found in the Aberdeenshire countryside alongside a narrow unclassified road near the settlement of the Hillhead of Mountblairy, just over three miles north-west of the town of Turriff, approximately halfway between it and the village of Aberchirder. The pillar sits above the roadside on the south side at a bend on the other side of a fence in what was once woodland, but is now rough pastureland. It is in good condition and is set on a stone base that gives it its elevated position, with the flushbracket facing the road at near eye level. At its relatively low height however, views are limited.

STEEPNESS: None, the pillar being at 139 metres above sea level.

TERRAIN: Only a yard from the road among rough ground.

ACCESSIBILITY: Easily reached by the road. As stated the flushbracket is clearly visible.

NAVIGATION: Not easily found without a map with the pillar being in an obscure part of the Aberdeenshire countryside. Turn northwards off the B9025 halfway between Turriff and Aberchirder on to the B9121, After a couple of hundred yards a minor road turns off to the right. The pillar is a further 300 yards or so at the high point of this road on a bend on the right-hand side (south).

DANGER: None, the fence between the road and the pillar is not barbed and can be easily crossed.

Type of Trigpoint: Triangulation Pillar

Condition: Good

Number on Flush Bracket: S7076
