This high watermark sign is located along the Capital Area Greenbelt Trail next to the Susquehanna River in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The sign is directly across North Front Street from the Governor's Residence, near the intersection with Maclay Street. The sign notes that on June 24, 1972, the waters of the Susquehanna River rose to 33.27 feet. At the location of the sign, it notes that the water was 10.26 feet above ground. A blue wavy line indicates this height. This flooding was caused by the remnants of Hurricane Agnes, which caused more than $2 billion in damage in Pennsylvania alone. On the sign are the emblems of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and the City of Harrisburg, along with the advice to "Be aware. Prepare."
