[EN] Nestled in the very heart of Gasparet village, a typical wine-growing village in the Corbières region, the château houses a wine cellar where Patrick Reverdy will welcome you and give you a taste of the great wines, and where you can talk with the winemaker, an important guardian of wine-growing heritage.

The terroir is exceptional, the result of a veritable geological curiosity. The relief is the result of an ancient alluvial terrace, 7 km long, and 800 to 1500 meters across having a constant altitude of about 80 meters. Sheltered by the sandstone hills of Boutenac, which protect it from the west wind, it has been miraculously preserved.

The land is made up of a variety of soils, silt, limestone and sandstone and especially large beds of rounded stones, rich in quartz. The rounded stones give the terrace its structure and cohesion.

The land is sunny, with an eastern exposure, and well protected from the Cers wind, gravelly, well drained and easy to work.

It is considered one of the best terroirs in the Corbières region if not the best.

The climate is Mediterranean, hot and dry, rarely exceeding 500 mm of rain per year, with lots of sunshine.

With respect to the grape varieties, the Château la Voulte-Gasparets uses Carignan (50%), the traditional native variety which gives the wine its structure and originality with the harshness corrected by the other traditional variety Grenache (25%). Other varieties such as Mourvèdre (15%) and Syrah (10%) have recently been added. The particular varieties which make up the white wine are : le Rolle, Grenache, Roussanne, Marsanne and Maccabeu. These are the varieties which make up the Corbières AOC, created in 1985, to which the Boutenac appellation has recently been added.

The grapes are harvested manually. They are then brought to the wine cellar in crates where after a rigorous selection process they are loaded whole into the fermentation vats to be transformed into red wine.
