Near a copse of trees in the Nowra General Cemetery is this vertical white marble slab, shaped like 'head and shoulders' at the western end of the grave for Hugh McDonald. Like a few other headstones this has become quite stained in the last 100 years. The lead inscription on the memorial marker states that Hugh was accidentally killed in 1910, as follows:
In
Loving Memory
of
HUGH PURDIE
Eldest dearly loved Son of
Duncan & Agnes McDonald
Born 27th March 1865.
Accidentally Killed 2nd Aug. 1910.
