The Ten Commandments and the Beatitudes are carved into a stone monument, the Ten Commandments on top, and the Beatitudes on the bottom. These are two of the most well-known sections of the entire Bible, as they provide God's expectations for how people will live - the Commandments from the Old Testament and the Beatitudes from the New Testament.

The Ten Commandments, which God gave to Moses on Mount Sinai, as told in the book of Exodus, chapter 20, verses 2-17, are listed on the monument thus:

The Beatitudes come from Christ's Sermon on the Mount as recorded in Saint Matthew's Gospel, chapter 5, verses 1-12. On the base of the monument, they are written as:

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
