Dit monument is ter nagedachtenis aan de leden van BMWO (Belgische Militaire Weerstandsorganisatie) Nieuwpoort die tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog zijn gesneuveld. De opschrift op het monument luidt:

Dank zij het initiatief van Roose Leopold, conducteur van bruggen en wegen weerstander BMWO, werden de sluizen van de achterhaven op 7 sept 1944 ontmijnd en werd de vernielde brug hersteld tijdens de nacht van 9 sept hetgeen de doorgang van de Geallieerde troepen toeliet vanaf 10 sept 1944."
Beschrijving
Ruw behouwen hardstenen blok met grillige omtreklijnen, waartegen een bronzen tekstplaat hangt. Het geheel is geplaatst op een kleine geelbakstenen sokkel (Bron [46]).

Thanks to the initiative of Roose Leopold, conductor of bridges and roads resister BMWO, the locks of the rear port were emptied on 7 September 1944 and the destroyed bridge was repaired during the night of 9 September, allowing the passage of the Allied troops from 10 September 1944 onwards."
Description
Rough-hewn bluestone block with capricious outlines, against which hangs a bronze text plate. The whole is placed on a small yellow-brick plinth (Source [46]).
