Pymatuning State Park is located on the west side of Pymatuning Reservoir near the town of Andover, Ohio. The area was formerly a very large swamp. The reservoir was created in 1933 with the construction of a dam on the southern end. The state of Ohio acquired land on the west shore of the lake in 1935 and development on the state park began in 1950.

According to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources website for the park, "The 14,000-acre reservoir offers multiple boat access areas, seasonal docks, and some of the finest walleye and muskie fishing in the state. Visitors will also find a large, shady campground with some lakeside view sites, cozy cabins, swimming beach and scenic picnic areas along the lakeshore."
