In the pre-dawn hours of September 3rd, 1935, two Rockdale Fireman John W. Williams and J.W. Hooper answered their final fire alarm. They were killed in action while combating the Scarbrough & Hicks Co. Building fire. This memorial is placed here, near the actual spot of their deaths, to perpetuate their sacrifice. Erected by the Rockdale Fire Dept.
