This dated stone is located on the front of St. Paul's United Church in Brampton, Ontario. Built in 1885, the church was originally a Methodist church until 1925, when the Methodists joined the Congregationalists and Presbyterians to form the United Church of Canada.
The church here originated in 1828 as a congregation called the Primitive Methodists meeting at the home of John Elliott nearby. The first church was built in 1840 on Queen & Chapel Streets before this structure was built on June 6, 1885 by architect J.S. Mallory & Son.
The structure was designated under the Ontario Heritage Act on June 2, 1985.
