CNR 1112 was built in 1912 by Montreal Locomotive Works for the Canadian Northern Railway. It served on the CanNorR until 1919 when the railroad went bankrupt and was subsequently absorbed by the new Canadian National Railways.

The engine was purchased by the Quebec, North Shore and Labrador Railway in 1952, and converted to oil-burning. It remained on the QNS&L until 1961.

Following retirement, the engine was donated to the Canadian Railroad Historical Association in St Constant, QC, where it was one of the first museum engines to be stored indoors.

CN 1112 moved to the Eastern Ontario Railway Museum in 1990.

It is one of only two surviving examples of this configuration (1158 is in Saskatchewan).
