The Sudbury Civil War Monument contains a life size figure of a uniformed Union infantryman standing on a black granite base while holding his rifle vertically by the barrel with his right hand above his left hand. The 17' 6" high monument was designed and built by Badger Brothers of Quincy MA. It was funded by a $2,000 donation by Samuel B. Rogers. The monument was dedicated on May 31, 1897.
The front of the base is has a bronze plaque which is inscribed:
