This church in Wapping section of South Windsor the was built in 1801 and altered to its present Greek Revival style in 1849. Originally the church served Congregational, Baptist and Methodist denominations. By 1817, the Baptists and Methodists built their own churches and the Congregationalists remained as the sole congregation. In 1830, the church was named the Second Congregational Church. The church became a federated church when the Congregationalists merged with the Methodists to form the Wapping Federated Church. The church was renamed the Wapping Community Church in 1936. Today the church has an open an affirming policy. "A belief in Jesus as the Son of God and a commitment to strive to live one’s personal life according to His Gospel of unconditional love is the only requirement for church membership." (
