Beware of Snakes sign is located in the Oliver Cemetery, towards the back of the cemetery behind the Veteran's Memorial. Look for the two flags.

This sensitive area is one of the most endangered ecosystems in BC and Canada, also it is protected under the British Columbia Wildlife Act.

The Western Rattlesnake is native to this area, and generally will shake their rattlers as a warning to approaching predators, including unsuspecting passersby. Rattlesnakes hid under rock cliffs and other shaded areas especially during the summer months.

The Western Rattlesnake is very important to this eco-system, and feeds on small mammals.
