Het Geniemuseum herbergt de geschiedenis van het Regiment Genietroepen en is als sinds 1970 op de Van Brederodekazerne in gebouw K gevestigd.
Het Geniemuseum is een museum voor iedereen die geïnteresseerd is in de historie van de krijgsmacht in Nederland en in de techniek. Bezoekers maken kennis met de kleurrijke en roemruchte geschiedenis van het Regiment Genietroepen.
Expositie
In het museum wordt aan de hand van verschillende thema's op een eigentijdse manier een beeld gegeven van de Genie in verleden en heden. Oude uniformen, foto’s van vredesmissies, schaalmodellen en werktuigen geven van de Genietroepen een veelzijdig beeld. Begrijpelijk voor de geïnteresseerde bezoeker maar herkenbaar voor de genist.
Na het passeren van een smalle Baileybrug loopt u de buitenexpositie in, het Geniepark. Hier kunnen bezoekers het grote werk bewonderen, zoals bruggen, bunkers, voertuigen, vaartuigen en pontons zijn hier staan opgesteld.
U betreedt het gebouw bij het gerenoveerde middendeel, hier bevindt zich de receptie waar u zich meldt. Verder vindt u er de Genie-bibliotheek en de zithoek voor koffie/thee en versnaperingen. Het middendeel is altijd in gebruik voor wisseltentoonstellingen, veelal van het Nationaal Militair Museum afkomstig (bevat de collecties van het voormalig Legermuseum Delft en van het voormalige Militaire Luchtvaartmuseum).
In de gerenoveerde linkervleugel van het museum wordt u door middel van een 7 tal thema’s geïnformeerd over de vele facetten die het Wapen der Genie herbergt. Denk bijvoorbeeld aan ‘Genie en opleidingen’, ‘Genie en Bouwen’, ‘Genie en het Regiment’, etc.
Via een banier aan het plafond worden de onderwerpen aangeduid.
De presentaties geven een ieder de gelegenheid zowel globaal als indringender kennis te nemen van het thema. Dat kan globaal met de grote afbeeldingen en gedetailleerder met behulp van kleine foto’s en teksten. Tevens wordt elk onderwerp met video ondersteunt.
Elk thema is gemonteerd op een stapellichaam – een stalen vakwerkconstructie - die elke genist wel eens ooit in zijn militaire leven heeft gebruikt ter ondersteuning van zijn werk.
De rechtervleugel wordtmomenteel gerenoveerd en zal begin 2023 worden heropend.
Kinderen
Voor kinderen is er zowel binnen in het Geniemuseum als buiten een speurtocht uitgezet.
Het Huis van het Regiment Genietroepen
Het gebouw biedt bovendien onderdak aan de veteranen ontmoetingsruimte “De Brug” en de Traditiekamer, waar de Regimentscommandant en diverse verenigingen en geledingen van het Regiment vergaderen.
Bij uw bezoek is het ook mogelijk dat u, bij toeval, getuige bent van een genieceremonie, zoals een beëdiging bij het genievaandel of de uitreiking van een medaille. Het museum blijft in zo’n geval voor u normaal te bezichtigen.
Keuken van het concentratiekamp kamp Vught
De kapconstructie van het gebouw herinnert nog aan de tijd dat het in gebruik was als keuken van het concentratiekamp. Tevens kijkt u vanuit de middenvleugel uit op de voormalige appelplaats van het concentratiekamp. Een grote foto in de hal van het gebouw herinnert hieraan. Voor meer informatie over deze periode wordt de bezoeker doorverwezen naar het Nationaal Monument Kamp Vught, een instelling met een indrukwekkende expositie over deze droeve en beladen periode.

De stichting Historische Genieverzameling is een culturele Algemeen Nut Beogende Instelling. Een schenking/donatie aan een culturele ANBI geeft een verhoogde aftrekpost voor de belasting.

Kitchen of Vught concentration camp
The roof construction of the building still recalls the time when it was used as a concentration camp kitchen. Also, from the middle wing you look out on the concentration camp's former apple court. A large photo in the hall of the building recalls this.
