A garment is draped over his shoulders. St. Matthew has his right hand on the end of the handle of a halberd and has an open book in his left hand. The halberd and the book are two symbols associated with St. Matthew in art. The brick platform is in the middle of a stone arch in an area covered with paving blocks.
