In front of the Ferndale Historical Museum at 1651 Livernois St, Ferndale, MI 48220 is a slab of concrete from the original pavement of Woodward Ave. M-1. The first mile of concrete pavement in the United States was on Woodward Avenue in Detroit in 1909 just a few miles south of here. This fragment was part of an extension just a few years later.
