Op onze vakantie hebben wij het oude ambachten en speelgoed museum bezocht. Na een introductie door de vriendelijke gastheer konden wij onze eigen weg in het museum vervolgen. Het is veel groter dan je op eerste gezicht zou zeggen. In de kelder zijn vele winkeltjes ingericht met gigantisch veel objecten uit het recente verleden. Helaas konden wij hier niet zoveel bij stilstaan want onze dochter vond de setting met poppen een beetje eng. Wij keken wel onze ogen uit. Er was een mooie expositie over Sesamstraat. Het tweede deel van het museum, het speelgoedmuseum, viel bij iedereen goed in de smaak. Mijn dochter denkt nu bij elk museum dat er speelgoed te vinden is…

Het Oude Ambachten en Speelgoed Museum is een museum in het dorp Terschuur in de Nederlandse gemeente Barneveld in de provincie Gelderland.

Het museum beslaat in totaal zo'n 4400 vierkante meter. In het Ambachten Museum zijn ruim 150 kleine winkeltjes, kamertjes en werkplaatsen, met allerhande oude gereedschappen en attributen uit de vorige eeuw en soms nog ouder te zien. Het museum heeft een open karakter: objecten mogen door volwassenen worden aangeraakt.

Het speelgoedmuseum omvat onder meer ouderwetse houten spelletjes, het oudste Monopoliespel, oude bouwdozen, rijdende Märklintreinen, bouwwerken van Meccano, oude porseleinen poppen, handgemaakte poppenhuizen, een speciale antieke beren verzameling met onder andere Steiff, Herman, Nisbit. Om de paar maanden is een nieuwe expositie te bezichtigen.

On our holiday we visited the old crafts and toy museum. After an introduction by the friendly host we could continue our own way in the museum. It's much bigger than you might think at first glance. In the basement are many shops furnished with a huge number of objects from the recent past. Unfortunately we couldn't think much about this because our daughter found the shops with the life-size dolls a bit scary. A shame because there was so much to see. There was a nice exhibition about Sesame Street. The second part of the museum, the toy museum, was well received by everyone. My daughter now thinks that there are toys at every museum…

The Old Crafts and Toys Museum is a museum in the village of Terschuur in the Dutch municipality of Barneveld in the province of Gelderland.

The museum covers a total of about 4400 square meters. In the Crafts Museum you can see more than 150 small shops, rooms and workshops, with all kinds of old tools and attributes from the last century and sometimes even older. The museum has an open character: objects may be touched by adults.

The toy museum includes old-fashioned wooden games, the oldest Monopoly game, old building boxes, moving Märklin trains, Meccano structures, old porcelain dolls, handmade doll houses, a special antique bear collection including Steiff, Herman, Nisbit. A new exhibition can be viewed every few months.
