"Als je door de groene heuvels tussen Nijmegen en Groesbeek wandelt, verrijst plotseling een fata morgana. Een wit gepleisterd, oriëntaals aandoend gebouw steekt met zijn grote koepel en twee torens boven de bomen uit. Ondanks de oosterse uitstraling gaat het hier wel degelijk om een Nederlands kerkgebouw. Geïnspireerd door een pelgrimsreis naar het Midden-Oosten maakten architect Jan Stuyt en kunstenaar Piet Gerrits aan het begin van de twintigste eeuw in opdracht van priester Arnold Suijs dit rooms-katholieke totaalkunstwerk."

Het oksaal is opgesierd met een uit 1921 stammend mozaïek van het Laatste Avondmaal.

"As you walk through the green hills between Nijmegen and Groesbeek, a mirage suddenly arises. A white plastered, oriental-looking building with its large dome and two towers rises above the trees. Despite the oriental appearance, this is indeed a Dutch church building. Inspired by a pilgrimage to the Middle East, architect Jan Stuyt and artist Piet Gerrits created this Roman Catholic total work of art at the beginning of the twentieth century, commissioned by priest Arnold Suijs.
