Die Gaststätte „Waldschänke Geyer“ befindet sich in einem Historischen Gebäude. Bis gegen Ende des 19.Jahrhunderts stand hier ein aus Lehmziegeln erbautes Zeughaus, in dem früher Jagdgeräte für die im Geyerischen Wald oftmals durchgeführten kurfürstlichen Jagden aufbewahrt wurde. Das Gebäude ist unter der Bezeichnung „Ziegelscheune“ auf älteren Landkarten noch auffindbar. An Stelle dieser Ziegelscheune, die aus Lehmablagerungen des hier beginnenden“Hufbachle“ erbaut wurde und der als Lohenbach durch das „Obertannenberger Tal“ bis zum Schwimmbad führt, erbaute und eröffnete am 2.Juli 1903 Julius Sehm ein Restaurationsgebäude, dem er als Symbol der Jägerei den Namen „Jagdschlösschen“ gab. Ab 1905 bewirtschaftete über vier Jahrzehnte Familie Lutze diese Gastwirtschaft. Sie diente vornehmlich den Jägern als Traditionsgaststätte, da sie am Rande der naturgeschützten „Hermannsdorfer Wiesen“ liegt, die wegen ihres seltenen Wild und Pflanzenreichtums weithin bekannt und geschützt sind. Das hinter der Gaststätte beginnende Waldstück wird schon um 1600 „Wahrsage“ genannt. Nach dem zweiten Weltkrieg erbaute ein mitteldeutsches Bauunternehmen hinter der Gaststätte ein großes Gebäude und nutzte es als Ferienunterkunft für seine Mitarbeiter. Dieses Gebäude und die Gaststätte renovierte und modernisierte Fam. Gerlach und eröffnete im Jahre 1992 die stillgerechte Gaststätte mit Pension zur Freude aller Einheimischen und Gäste des Hauses mit dem Namen „Waldschänke Geyer“. Der Stadturlauber schätzt die waldreiche, ruhige Umgebung ganz besonders und ist uns jederzeit Herzlich Willkommen.


The restaurant "Waldschänke Geyer" is located in a historic building. Up until the end of the 19th century, an armory made of mud bricks stood here, in which hunting equipment for the electoral hunts that were often carried out in the Geyerisches Wald was kept. The building can still be found under the name "Ziegelscheune" on older maps. In place of this brick barn, which was built from clay deposits from the "Hufbachle" beginning here and which leads as the Lohenbach through the "Obertannenberger Tal" to the swimming pool, Julius Sehm built and opened a restoration building on July 2, 1903, which he dedicated as a symbol of hunting gave the name "Jagdschlösschen". From 1905 the Lutze family managed this inn for more than four decades. It was primarily used by hunters as a traditional restaurant, as it is located on the edge of the nature-protected "Hermannsdorfer Wiesen", which are widely known and protected because of their rare game and wealth of plants. The forest beginning behind the inn was already called "fortune telling" around 1600. After the Second World War, a central German construction company built a large building behind the restaurant and used it as holiday accommodation for its employees. This building and the restaurant were renovated and modernized by the Gerlach family, and in 1992 they opened the stylish restaurant with guesthouse, to the delight of all locals and guests of the house, called "Waldschänke Geyer". City vacationers particularly appreciate the wooded, quiet surroundings and are always welcome.
