The rugged terrain on which this town in the upper Genal valley stands gives it some very special urban characteristics, to the point that the houses, whitewashed as in the rest of the Serranía de Ronda, crowd one on top of the other to save large unevenness that also have to go up in its streets by means of steps. Of the popular architecture in Júzcar, the chimneys that protrude from the ridges of the irregular roofs stand out. The most outstanding building is the parish church of Santa Catalina, a work from the 16th century that throughout its history has undergone transformations and various reforms. It has a rectangular nave with a flat roof that hides remains of a Mudejar armor, the doorway has a semicircular arch between pilasters. The towers are made up of three square bodies with semicircular arches.
