"This chapel was the place of pilgrimage for half a century for the Newfoundlanders as well as the fishermen in Iceland. From this site, the fishermen's wives watched the arrival of the boats returning from the Great Fishing. The interior of the building houses many ex-votos.

The Notre-Dame-de-l'Espérance chapel rises above the Vau-Burel cliff, facing the bay. It is an oriented chapel built on a promontory site.

Neo-Gothic in style, it is made up of a vessel and has a three-sided apse with broken arch windows. The south elevation is opened by a door with a basket-handle arch surmounted by a niche with a statuette bearing a dedication to the Virgin and the date 1850.

The west gable wall is surrounded by angular buttresses each topped by a pinnacle. Pierced by a pointed arch door surmounted by a rose window, it is crowned with a small square bell tower."

" Cette chapelle fut le lieu de pèlerinage durant un demi-siècle pour les Terres-Neuvas ainsi que les pêcheurs en Islande. De ce site, les femmes de pêcheurs surveillaient l'arrivée des bateaux de retour de la Grande Pêche. L’intérieur de l’édifice abrite de nombreux ex-votos.

La chapelle Notre-Dame-de-l'Espérance s'élève au-dessus de la falaise du Vau-Burel, face à la baie. C'est une chapelle orientée édifiée sur un site de promontoire.

De style néogothique, elle est composée d'un vaisseau et présente un chevet à trois pans ajouré de baies en arc brisé. L'élévation sud est ouverte d'une porte à arc en anse de panier surmontée d'une niche à statuette portant une dédicace à la Vierge et la date 1850.

Le mur-pignon ouest est cantonné de contreforts angulaires sommés chacun d'un pinacle. Percé d'une porte en arc brisé surmontée d'une rosace, il est couronné d'un petit clocher de plan carré."
