The church presents a sober façade carved in stone and brick. The plan is a Latin cross, with side chapels connected to each other, a flat head and a high dome in the transept.

Its extraordinary interest is given by the rich decoration of baroque plasterwork, anchored in blue, one of the oldest in the Antequera complex.

In the main chapel, decorated in a unique way based on illusionary elements that are mixed with real ones, four images stand out: San Miguel Arcángel, Santa Clara, Santa Bárbara, San Juan de la Cruz and San Braulio. Crowning this wall is a huge canvas of The Adoration of the Shepherds from the mid-seventeenth century.

In the collateral altarpieces of the transept, typical of the Antequera rococo altarpiece from the late eighteenth century, the Jesus Fallen on the Mount stands out, a work by José Mora (head, hands and feet) from before 1688 that was later reformed and completed by Andrés de Carvajal.

In the transept, two large paintings embedded in plasterwork attributed to Manuel Farfán are curious.

Other noteworthy works are: a Christ tied to the column by Andrés de Carvajal; the Lienzo de la Virgen del Consuelo, from the eighteenth century; a sculpture of Cristo de la Salud from 1624; the organ of the high choir, pseudo-classical style or the primitive image of Santa Teresa de Jesús.

Finally, we will stop at the chapel of the Virgen de los Dolores where the dressing room stands out. With a hexagonal floor plan and a vault with a complicated articulation, its decoration represents the last evolutionary stage reached by ornamental plaster motifs within the Antequera Baroque. The beautiful dress image that presides over the chapel is the work of Miguel Márquez García, being dated 1817 and which has a very interesting trousseau of goldsmith and embroidery.
