Al Ula's train station was part of the Hejaz Railway, a major project from the times of Ottoman Empire. Once upon the time it connected Damascus to Medina, crossing the whole Arabian Peninsula. Nowadays the station is abandoned, almost in ruins, but recently was fenced and there are reasons to believe it will be soon renovated.
