The monument is about 30' across and 8' tall, containing a relief sculpture of miners and families centered in the monument. The relief appears to be bronze. The monument is located in a wall off section with brick walkway from the street meeting a circular brick pattern. The walls are 4 blocks high to 2 blocks high topped with slate. The monument is flanked by the American flag on the left and Pennsylvania flag. The Sculptor is Martin Heffron of Minersville PA.

The plague mounted just below the bas relief depiction of coal miners and families reads.

You gave us your tired, your poor, your huddled masses
Some settled in what the world recognized as
the Hard Coal Region
In memory of:
Those who built our small towns
labored and died in the mining industry
to provide for a better tomorrow —
this sculpture stands as a lasting tribute
to all Pennsylvania anthracite coal miners
and their families.

Envisioned by the proud families and friends of the coal miners and created through the dedicated efforts of the Forest City Area Rotary Club
1994 - 1995
