Great spot to start a hike along the Appalachian Trail, either go north into the Shenandoah National Park, or walk south along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Both routes have their ups and downs, rocks, and roots. The parking is decent, but if all the spaces are taken, then there is parking at the old hotel parking nearby and walk from there.
Getting here via the AT? Then enjoy this stop near Waynesboro where there are lots of food and lodging and an outfitter just down the road. The shoulder is narrow so walk with caution.
