The camp consisted of 9 huts, some semi-underground, others completely above ground. Because the huts were in a very dense forest of young pines, they were hidden from view. Between April 1943 and October 1944, between April 1943 and October 1944, eighty to one hundred people who were fleeing the German occupier found a safe place in varying compositions. The camp housed, among others, Jews, members of the resistance, Allies, a Russian and a German deserter.

On Sunday, October 29, 1944, the hiding camp was discovered by two Landstormers

who were looking for games. They heard the sound of sawing and chopping wood in the forest

and found it suspicious. They went towards the sound and just saw a boy walking into it

another box was going to fetch water crossing a firebreak. After a short interrogation they left

the boy went and went to "De Paasheuvel" to get reinforcements. They thought

namely that they had encountered a camp full of "dangerous terrorists". This is allowed

most of the people in hiding flee. Unfortunately, 8 Jews did not escape. They were taken by the German soldiers and imprisoned in the basement of "De Paasheuvel" in Vierhouten. A woman died in the basement of De Paasheuvel, her husband was shot. The others, together with an execution platoon, had to walk to the "Pas-Opkamp" to be shot there. About one kilometer outside of Vierhouten, a skirmish broke out when two of the people in hiding tried to flee. One of them

was shot dead on the run, the other turned back when his 6-year-old son started screaming. Three pits were dug in which the people in hiding had to lie down. They were then shot dead, including the 6-year-old boy.
