En Júzcar está el espectacular nacimiento “Las Zúas”, que recibe este nombre de los antiguos pobladores árabes de la zona, que lo llamaban “azud” (canal que conduce agua a un molino). De este manantial brota un caudal medio de 623 litros de agua por minuto a una temperatura constante de 16,5 grados. Se da la circunstancia de que la cantidad de agua que surge de “Las Zúas” prácticamente se mantiene tanto en invierno como en verano, lo que propicia que en la época de escasez de lluvias este nacimiento sea el principal aporte de agua que recibe el río Genal.
