A dedicated tree located at Woodland's police department on East Scott Avenue. The tree is dedicated to Justin DeRosier; a deputy who was shot and killed while on duty on April 14th, 2019.
Justin graduated from Kelso High School in 2008 and went on to get a degree in Criminal Justice at Washington State University. In 2016, Justin was hired by the Cowlitz County Sheriff department.
He was shot and killed in 2019 after he was dispatched to investigate a vehicle that was blocking a section of Kalama River Road. Justin's death was heavily reported on by news outlets throughout the state. Justin was 29 years old at his time of passing.
