Erected out of Gratitude by The Alumni Association and its Friends. 1969
Biography:
Edward Miner Gallaudet, son of Thomas Hopkins Gallaudet (Whose statue is also on campus), was the first president of Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. from 1864 to 1910. During his time as president he provided a diverse view of sign language and speech training stating that different methods of communication are going to work for different students.
