Buckeye was founded in 1888 by farm families immigrating from Iowa and Ohio. The family from Ohio dug an irrigation canal which made farming feasible and the town was named after the nickname for Ohio. The most common crop, for many years, was cotton. This manhole cover has Historic Buckeye Founded 1888 stamped around the outer edge. The center features a cotton boll ready to be picked.
